Tree Stump?

I have a customer who has an oak tree stump in his backyard. What is the best way to speed up the process of having it rot so that I can remove as much as possible so I don't have to mow around this thing anymore?

I thought about poring salt in all the crevices,but I don't want to do anything to kill is grass around the stump.
